Before becoming a mother, I used to travel with my parents all the time. Today, now that I'm in my forties, I rarely manage to find that kind of time for them. Thank you for reminding me how important it is to build memories together.
When I was a child, we used to visit Morocco often. I have this beautiful memory of my mother and me at sunset, drying our hair in the sun while looking out at the dunes. As an adult, my place is definitely southern Sicily—somewhere between baroque churches and unforgettable culinary experiences
I love hearing about that memory. It’s the small moments that stick with us. I remember cycling to get milk with my dad in Gstaad, or gathering eggs with my mom from the chicken coop in Ireland.
Such a beautiful story about your dad and a great reminder to prioritize travel with our parents. These are the trips that stay with you, and with them. Thank you for sharing.
I'm fortunate that we've done several, before my brother and I got married, and then after! We've been to Munich, Salzberg, Florence and Rome together, and in a month head to Big Sky and Jackson Hole! We all couldn't be more excited. Related, my husband has done several golf trips with his dad, some of the best memories they both continue to share.
My mother and I took a beautiful train ride through Switzerland this past winter. We had such a lovely trip. She was in charge of organising, I was in charge of language translation and the photos.
There were frustrations, but I think that was born out of the fact that we don’t spend much time together day to day, so being around each other that much….i tend to grate on her after a couple of days 😅…. But we did have the best time, and I am still sad that it has been & gone, in a way.
Celia looks beautiful and now I feel the need to book a train ride. LOVE your insights on traveling with your parents, such a sweet photo your dad kept on his desk. Thanks for sharing!
Love it, great article

Take a trip with them this year! What were some of your favorite trips with your parents before you had kids?

Thank you, Christy. I’m so glad I took the trip with him when I did. Do you have a favorite trip you took with your parents?

Those sound like incredible trips! Your parents must be great travelers.
They know how to do it well :)
This was very touching and a good reminder of the fleeting moments.
Thank you. We think we have so much time left with the people we love.

I love reading this, and hearing how you split up the travel duties. What wonderful memories of Switzerland you will have together!
