If you’re new here as a paid subscriber, this may be your first edition of Hotel History, one of the publications I send out for paid subscribers of The Upgrade.
My father wrote a weekly newsletter about the hospitality industry for 40 years called The Saturday Briefing. He died a few years ago, in 2022, after a battle with Parkinsons Disease. I decided to pick up his legacy and start publishing my own newsletter, which is how The Upgrade was born.
Hotel History consists of archived articles he wrote over those 40 years that I think you will find interesting.
I hope you enjoy this week’s piece, considering the hurricanes that have hammered Hawaii this year.
Happy Travels (and hurricane-free ones),
Anne Marie
