Ah, agree with all of these! The pool chair game (wrote an article on that), the light switches (been there), and afternoon housekeeping (not great for nap times)… so many insights!!

The housekeeping one is my personal biggest pet peeve!

Very much agree on the water thing. Hotels clearly need to step it up if so many of us have such similar complaints!

I feel like your list and mine are easy fixes. We should present them at AHLA

We just stayed at Hotel de Crillon in Paris with our four-year-old. The entire staff went out of their way to make our son feel like he owned the place! Which made his parents very very happy. There is something remarkable about thoughtful service - leaving a hotel bookmark in the book I was reading (at the exact page of course), or the treats and cookbook waiting for my son (after the concierge asked what we loved).

It’s not about over the top service. It’s about seeing the guest and taking care of them as an individual.

Yes! Happy kids, happy parents. Hotels that make kids feel like celebrities instead of second class citizens have my vote forever

Comparing other hotels to the Lanesborough is unfair to other hotels!

They do such an excellent job

Very though provoking.

For my India-bound travelers niche, especially seniors and first-time visitors, that means realistic pacing, responsive support, careful hotel selection, thoughtful food planning, and on-ground coordination that protects the guest from avoidable stress.

Yes! Maslow’s hierarchy of needs as well. Especially for senior travelers. India can feel overwhelming, and it’s important to provide realistic pacing and the opportunity for rest

I wrote a fun piece on my hotel hierarchy of needs and we're definitely singing some of the same song. COFFEE! If I'm paying $1000 - in-room coffee, complimentary coffee, and d@mn good COFFEE!

Love the lanesborough!!

Me too! It’s the best service team and sales director combination. I love that hotel so much!

Cannot agree more on the water - the last two trips I had to resort to the trashiest-feeling habit of running to the convenience store and stashing dozens of water bottles in my suitcase for the room. The first night I get water at turndown, but for some reason the rest of the nights are always spotty.
